An Rhein, Mosel und Ahr

A tour on the Rhine with a view of the Loreley rock, Katz Castle on the other bank of the Rhine, through the village of St. Goar, past Rheinfels Castle, along a small waterfall, and back over meadows and fields to Urbar.

Today we were on the volcanic crater Rodderberg near Bonn, from which one has a beautiful view of the Rhine and the Siebengebirge on the other side of the Rhine.

The short days on this beautiful tour in the Siebengebirge gave us both a great morning and evening mood in the autumn forest. The panoramic distant views make up for the steep ascents.

In ideal hiking weather, sunshine and pleasant 24 °, we were in the Siebengebirge on the way and paid a visit to the lion castle and the Drachenfels. Fantastic!

With the nice weather this time we were drawn to the Moselle loop near Bremm. A great area, the Calmonter via ferrata is still on the list. Today with the four-legged friends it would have been too stressful. We all had a lot of fun with the route over the Calmonter Höhenweg.

After a long time we were back at Eltz Castle. A wonderful round in perfect hiking weather.

We used the beautiful sunny day for an excursion in the Ahr valley and visited the Teufelsloch and the Teufelsley.

In the short term, we changed our minds. A hike in Belgium was planned, but since today border controls from NRW to Belgium and Holland have been taking place. We didn't want to test whether this would lead to a traffic jam.

Een paar dagen geleden, op 29 oktober 2021, opende de VVS (Beautification Association for the Siebengebirge) vijf paden naar de wildernis, die je uitnodigen om meer dan 35 km te wandelen door de wildernis en de natuurlijke erfgoedgebieden van de NRW Foundation op Petersberg . Vandaag hadden we perfect weer - zonnig maar koud - om de Mittelrhein-Klettersteig te beklimmen. Het leuke van deze via ferrata is dat de individuele klimpassages (klimvariant) ook omzeild kunnen worden (wandelvariant), zodat de route met de viervoeters geen probleem was.
