Hike across Gran Canaria in 4 days

Christmas 2021 - what better way to spend some quality time with one of my best friends from Vienna and exploring my temporary home of Gran Canaria, than by a multi day hike across the island?*If you want to follow this route, see tipps in the Comment sectionI had first heard about a multi day hike which crosses the island from North to South when I arrived in Las Palmas from my flatmate. It turned out to be part of the Camino de Santiago, but we decided to plan our own route instead of following the official trail.We wanted to start in Agaete (instead of Gáldar, where the Camino de Santiago starts) to enjoy the stunning views over the Dragon's Tail, the rocky coast and blue Atlantic Ocean. The hike up to the mountains from Agaete is spectacular and quite quickly you are surrounded by mountains and nothing but mountains.We also included one of the highest peaks, but opted for Roque Nuble due to its district formation and rocky surrounding, instead of the highest peak Pico de Los Nieves.Along the way we saw the vegetation, volcanic formations and climate constantly changing, you can see different plants every couple of hours and the views are guaranteed to never get boring.From dry rocky coast in the North, over pine tree forests, cacti, aloa veras, palm trees down to the sand dunes of Maspalomas, this hike really had it all.
