Wandern in Limburg

Our second visit to the De Sahara near Lommel and again we loved it. A varied route with forest, heathland, dunes, lakes and canals. You're not alone here at the weekend, but it wasn't overcrowded either.

We were in the Natuurpark De Plateaux-Hageven for the first time today and we really enjoyed it. We could enjoy an extensive heathland landscape with ponds and ponds, meadows and pine forests with cattle and horses. The former estate Domein Bokrijk with the castle Borkrijk is a popular recreational area in Flanders with ponds, forests, park and arboretum of the castle and an open-air museum. A major attraction is the passage through the water - Fietsen Door Het Water, which was completed in 2016.

Our third tour in Flanders, which has completely inspired us (1st Connecterra, 2nd Hoge Kempen - Mechelse Heide, 3rd Hoge Kempen - Lanaken).

The route is one of the only two "premium hiking trails" in Belgium, which were classified as such by the German Hiking Institute.

Today we hiked one of the two premium hiking trails in the Hoge Kempen National Park. A very varied route, we really liked it. Although it was Saturday, we were completely alone on the middle part of the hike in the forest - pure nature!

Fifth hike in the Hoge Kempen National Park. This time to an extension of the park, the Oudsberg, the highest and largest open dune in Flanders (inland dune), the dune belt ("Duinengordel").

On the way back from the hike to the Oudsberg (HK 5 National Park) there was a short detour to the Bergerven, a lake beautifully situated between forest and open areas.

The Grenspark Kempen Broek was a coincidental discovery. On the map we had discovered a few ponds north of the Hoge Kempen National Park. Research has shown that this is a hiking and cycling paradise that is not unknown in Flanders. So came the visit of the De Luysen mill and the adjacent pond. For nature… meer lezen

On the way back from the visit to the biotope to the De Luysen mill we have made a detour to the nature reserve De Zig. Unfortunately we could not complete the walk because of "Kogelgevaar" (in German: it was hunted).

The second Easter hike took us to Belgium, in two nature reserves in the Grenspark Kempen Broek, which adjoin the National Park Hoge Kempen. An idyllic landscape that we could almost completely enjoy for ourselves. Loved us and the four-legged friends very much!

Today we went on a very nice hike in the Natuurgebied Tösch-Langeren, part of the Grenspark Kempen Broek in Limburg, Belgium. We were able to explore meadows, forests, swampy areas and ponds while admiring storks, cattle and Konik horses.

This time we were on the Dutch side of Grenspark Kempen Broek and followed the red hiking route at Altweerterheide. A beautiful, varied route across meadows and fields, past streams and through pine forests.

After a routine appointment with the vet we trusted in Belgium, we planned another tour at Weert (NL), this time in Laurabossen. We really enjoyed the hike - a great area!

A beautiful hiking route around the Molenplas (Mühlensee), rightly recommended as a premium hiking trail by the German Hiking Institute. A small downer is the high voltage power lines nearby.

Combination of city tour of Maastricht and a hike around the Sint Pietersberg. We did not think that would work so well. Maastricht is really worth seeing!

In the evening on the return trip of the day tour Belgium, a detour to Doorkijkkerk - very romantic, when the sun is already low! The region around Borgloon is known for fruit growing and is very popular among cyclists.

One month ago on our hike "Oud Valkenburg and Geul" we accidentally got among the participants of the 42 km route of the four-day hike "Heuvelland4daagse". That made us curious.
