N-7 is the second day of hiking on the PCT along the Hat Creek rim. There's no water on the rim for 30 miles so it's dry camping, and even if there would be surface water there are warning signs not to drink it, probably due to heavy metal content. Day One of a three-day tour to the Benson Sierra Club hut at Anderson Peak. Coldstream Valley was for a few years in 1846 the preferred route for the pioneers coming with their wagons from the East. Though the lowest pass across the Sierra Nevada, it was their highest pass on their way into California.

Highlight day of the trip: Steaming geysers, boiling volcanic lake, bath in the resort hot spring pool, 🏊

But: Nothing better than a hot shower and a FREE 🍺 cold beer after two steep and sweaty days on the PCT

PCT trail angels 👼 are amazing !!

Finding a cooler full of 🍺 Free Beer in the middle of the forest made this day both better and longer 🤣

A bit of a steep climb out of Belden, but it was great to swim in the river, upload Komoot tours on WiFi 🤣, pick up resupply food, and drop off some snow gear to make the next section lighter.

The reward for all that climbing were the views, and a little luck seeing some snakes 🐍, butterflies, 🦋 and… meer lezen

The wildlife 🌸 🦋 and views 🏞️ are only getting better.

Despite my many photo stops we reached our first resupply stop in 5 instead of 8 days, maybe because of days like today. Dropping 5000 feet of elevation down into the valley was harder on the knees than the total distance, and it got hotter the… meer lezen
